Mark Costello: Championing Safe Aging in King County
Mark Costello is a lifetime resident of King County, having grown up and still residing in Issaquah. Mark spent the past several years supporting his parents through their aging process. He saw firsthand the benefits of minor home modifications to decrease the risk of falls in his parents’ home; and during his mother’s time in assisted living he witnessed the compassion of her caregivers toward their senior clients. These experiences sparked Mark’s desire to do something of value for this important segment of our community. Mark is a proud member of Age Safe America, the largest safe aging advocacy organization in the country and he has also completed their Aging in Place Home Safety Advisor training.

Aging in Place: Why Senior Home Safety Matters
90% of all seniors want to remain in their homes for as long as possible. The benefits in terms of independence, purpose and community that result from aging in place are significant both mentally and financially. Unfortunately, 85% of seniors have not taken steps to ensure they can stay safe at home. One other statistic: 100% of ER doctors recommend our aging neighbors receive a regular senior home safety assessment.
